Hi friends!

This is how I begin all my Apple Education greetings—simple, friendly, and welcoming. It’s become a core part of how I show up in both my classroom and my work in educational technology.

I’ve been in the education field for 9 years, including time as a substitute teacher and now as a full-time classroom teacher. I’ve spent most of my career teaching upper elementary and love bringing technology, creativity, and student agency into everything I do. Before becoming a teacher, I worked for many years in the technology world, which shaped my approach to designing tools that “just work.” My love for Apple began with the original iPhone, and that passion has guided my work ever since—both with students and with fellow educators.

In 2023, I was honored to be selected as an Apple Distinguished Educator, a role that continues to inspire my commitment to innovation, accessibility, and thoughtful design.

Outside the classroom, I’ve expanded my work into app development through Hi Friends! Software, where I create simple, thoughtful tools that help people do their best work. The current app catalog includes:

  • Classroom Tools for Teachers – A teacher-first toolkit for classroom management, planning, and student support.

  • Potter’s Log – A beautiful way for potters to track, document, and organize their studio and creations.

  • Time & Care – A secure time-tracking and invoicing tool built for tutors, coaches, and educational professionals.

  • Wrap Track – A wishlist maker and gift-tracking tool powered by secure CloudKit sharing.

  • Holiday Movie Bingo – A joyful, winter-themed game experience for families and friends using GameKit and iCloud.

I live in San Francisco with my wife, Jill, our two kids, five cats, and two dogs—where there is never a dull or quiet moment.
